The concept excludes Afrikaans-speaking coloureds and South Africans of English ancestry, yet is sometimes misunderstood to include them.

The Birth of a Nation Town

Shortly after the end of Apartheid in South Africa in the early 90's, The goverment of South Africa attempted to move forward in bringing all the diverse amd vibrant communities together in pursuit of a functional multicultural society.

Afrikaans realizing that they'll lose their majority rule and would have a harder time passing legislation, decided the best way to show umbrage with the new rules was to seperate and create an ethnically monogamous country of their own kind within South Africa. Unfournately for those Afrikaans they had virtually no chance in their conquest for land against the SA military and general population.

Best Dramatic Happening - The Darrell Brooks Saga (170 votes)

As far back as November last year, tragedy struck in Bumfrick, Wisconsin when an SUV crashed through an annual Christmas parade, killing six people. Unfortunately due to America being the horrifically racist country it is, instead of appropriately punishing the killer SUV responsible for the attack as reported by multiple mainsteam media outlets, they unfairly apprehended and arrested innocent PoC Darrell Brooks who just happened to be near the scene at the time - falsely accusing him of multiple counts of homicide. It wasn't until the trial got underway though in October of this year though that things really started to kick off.

Boldly deciding to represent himself in court, the trial consisted of several weeks of complete covcit style autism - here are just some of the many threads covering the trial at the time.

The tail end of the trial had a shocking twist, however; it was discovered that one of the jurors of the case had posted anonymously to a Darrell Brooks support forum, alleging judge bias and leaning toward pushing for jury nullification. Despite Darrell's best attempts however, this ultimately didn't affect the final outcome of the trial. More on that later though

After a long and entertaining trial watched live by many dramatards, Darrell Brooks was finally found guilty on all 76 counts of being black and sentenced to life in prison. This trial will have a lasting legacy for sure, and the fact that Darrell was unfairly imprisoned whilst Kylie Rittenhouse walked free will stand as a testament to just how much white supremacy has poisoned our proud and noble country.

Dramatard of the Year - @NewMoon (120 votes)

Narrowly beating out Chiobu's near-victory of winning the coveted user of the year award for two years running, HeyMoon takes the prize this year for his incredibly many and varied contributions to rdrama all throughout 2022, ranging from being the creator of our beloved robot dramanaut bbbb, being the main reporter of the Darrell Brooks trial threads, and also playing a very special key role in running r/Justice4Darrell that skyrocketed this cat forum's antics to unprecedented levels. Huge congrats to HeyMoon, you more than deserved this win.

2022 was a fantastic year for the art of baiting (just compare the entire list of nominees with those of 2021's), but one particular sneaky scheme very clearly shone above the rest in the collective hearts of all you mischief makers.

A huge group effort from many prominent dramatards, /r/Justice4Darrell was a subreddit helping to combat the vicious disinformation circulating about the Darrell Brooks trial - enraging many racist Redditors and SRDines in the process. Even if that's all the subreddit had managed to achieve, it would've been considered a victory and one of rdrama's more successful bait subs... but one faithful post brought this gay op to levels that were previously considered a mere pipe dream.

The infamous juror post caught enough outside attention that it ended up being reported on by several media outlets, and eventually made its way into the trial itself - marking the first time that this shitty gossip forum had managed to impact a national court trial being closely watched by millions all over the country. The original poster eventually panicked and gave up the game (probably the wiser if less dramatic decision, tbh), but that didn't stop Darrell himself from reading the bait post in court and unsuccessfully attempting to use it to sway things in his favor or cause a last-minute mistrial.

HeyMoon's third award in his grand sweep of this year's Drammies, this prize goes to his grand reveal that the aggressive and abrasive user known as @bbbb was actually a bot based on ChatGPT and scripted by him this entire time - proving once and for all that you're all so braindead that even a bunch of lines of code can easily replace the good majority of you losers' room temperature takes. Even though there was some suspicion prior to the big reveal, plenty of dramatard regulars took the bait hook line and sinker, even our very own Pizzashill!

Also shoutout to the close runner up @TheGrillcast for his in-the-field reporting of two dramatards meeting up in meatspace to brawl it out - thank you for your extensive journ*lism, and immense bravery to head out and meet other rdrama users in the wild. Surprising likely no-one, Krayon (sister toucher)'s incredibly persistent autism, alt-spamming, white-knighting, foid doxxing, suicide baiting and insistence that he most definitely did NOT molest his sister has rocketed him to the top of the list for rdrama's pick for the biggest site lolcow of 2022, beating out our old favorite landlet prophet and the brief but impactful flash in the pan that was Belial. Unfortunately as I write this, it looks like he's finally quit rdrama forever for realses this time and so won't be able to accept this award in person, but I have a feeling he'll be back soon enough just like the other 50 times this has happened. This one was the closest race out of all of the categories this year. By a mere four votes, Yeezus and his sleepy schizo meltdown on Twitter, followed by his ban, followed by his unbanning when Rocket Daddy personally intervened - then finally in a building crescendo of drama - his IRL /pol/posting on InfoWars getting him rebanned once again (as well as burning all his billion dollar sponsorship deals), has managed to barely push him above our beloved gigatitty teacher to be this site's favorite lolcow of the year. Thank you Ye for irreversibly blowing your entire legacy just to grant us dramatards some fantastic entertainment, we really appreciate it!

Last but most certainly not least, our beloved capybara overlord takes home the award for rdrama's best janitor for the second year running, the first ever user to achieve such a feat for a Drammy award! Tldr

Man buys over a million cds, Vinyls, and cassettes from a failed company in an attempt to start the company over again. Abandons his family and buys and moves into a warehouse in another state in one of the most violent cities in America. Spends over half a million dollars to get cockblocked by the city for zoning violations and gets robbed over 30+ times. He sneeds about the city and it's inhabitants on twitter documenting his journey. He's also trying to build a fusion reactor and a science museum in the city

Backstory

Murfie was a startup company that focused on the digitization of physical media into digital media. People would send their CDs, Vinyls, and cassettes, which the company would store in their warehouse and rip the contents onto their own platform for people to stream. Murfie even allowed people to buy and sell with other users on their platform.

During sometime during early November, the company asked all of it's current customers to make sure they renewed their current subscription before November 17th. No more than 5 days later, the company sent out an email to it's customers saying that the compnay was ceasing all operations including the website. This abrupt shutdown shocked everyone, that even that former CEO had one idea what had happened .

The situation only continued to spiral out of control. Murfies ToS had a clause that promised its customers that they would return all of their physical media in the case the company shut down (For a small shipping fee of course ), but with all of their services down, customers had no way of getting back their cassettes and cds. In total, there were close to a million CDs, cassestes, and Vinyls left somewhere in limbo. Unsurprisingly, people were soying out about this:

Background

With the start of the upcoming thirteenth season of Riot's classic MOBA game League of Legends tomorrow the community is split upon the argument if Riot is even actively developing new content for the game or rather dragging the game over the line relying on the success of their other popular games namely Valorant and Wild Rift or on the fantastic animated series Arcane. As recent developments in League's history featured a trite pre-season, a new provider for the very important SEA region and the departure of a beloved host (not sjokz so doesn't matter) of the LCS coupled with switching the schedule of the aforementioned professional league to a completely inaccessible time slot in the afternoon, people are concerned about the future of the game in the west. It's hard to gauge actual facts as Riot doesn't release their numbers but from the eye test alone you'd immediately come to the conclusion that League of Legends is heading south. While many people (casual and professional g*mers) have said this for a long time now, the recent developments have made things much worse and I'll tell you why:

Not officially announcing the start of the season until a couple days prior

While this tweet offers a timetable of the season start for each major and minor region you'd think it's kinda weird for a game of this size to not have a concise and clear answer until 2 days before the season start. Players had to figure out the exact date for the start of the season for weeks prior relying on vague he-said-she-said information on twitter or other inherently unreliable sources.

Not following up on their promises

This headline is intentionally chosen to be opaque mainly due to the fact that I am incapable of finding all broken promises but here are some prime examples of Riot failing to deliver:

• Removing Smurf Queue: SmurfQ was a method Riot used in the previous season to combat the menace of smurfs (stronger players playing on new/stolen/friends' accounts against weaker players) in ranked games although they failed to figure out how to remove previously inactive account from this queue meaning if you were a returning player (or any other player with a high discrepancy between your MMR and your rank) you'd end up in full smurf lobbies which was an absolutely miserable experience over and over again. Some people claim it took them tens if not hundreds of games to finally be out of smurf queue and play against people on their skill level. As this was obviously not fun for either the returning players or the plethora of next Fakers in smurf queue Riot decided to just remove the system making smurfs appear in regular ranked matches again. • Failing to release the new VGU: As League of Legends is quite old now a lot of the older heroes are not capable of keeping up with the power creep of the latest releases making them obsolete and quite frankly incredibly unfun. Riot combats this by updating older heroes to new standards either via a visual or a gameplay update; sometimes even combining both of them for a visual and gameplay update. As a token of goodwill Riot offered players the choice of which hero gets this desired upgrade and the community voted for Skarner who is as one-dimensional as Salvador sperging out about the Ukranian-Russia war. I think he won the poll about a year ago but nothing has been done and the community is quite sceptical about Riot failing to deliver yet again here

This article talks about an update for this long-awaited VGU that's planned for Skarner but it's still mind-boggling how Riot is simply incapable of doing this in an acceptable time frame.

• Other hero updates: Some announcements of older heroes receiving 'ASU', 'midscope' or other minor updates to make them more accessible received mixed reactions and I'm frankly too lackadaisical to write about that here but if you're interested Jax, Rell and Ahri are some of these.

• Balance issues: Insert some g*mer seethe abour role/champion/item/team/region being too strong/too weak/too unfun/too fun/too hard/too easy see here: Recently people have come to the adc subreddit and demanded evidence and facts, and with Phreaks tweet., here: Riot Phroxzon follow up comments from the videos (includes ADC satisfaction, healing outliers and more) or here: Isn't the amount of damage riot lets tanks do a bit excessive?

• ARAM changes; All Random All Mid is a fun mode in all MOBAs in which players are assigned random heroes to battle it out in a straightforward lane without any depth or strategy. Basically the mode for casuals or people who just want to relax. However Riot updated the mode to make it incredibly unfun and players are NOT happy at all:

The game most just feels so awful now. The aram balance adjustments feel awful and the new tower falling/death times feel terrible as well. One of my favorite champions, ashe, is forced to not go adc, while Leblanc gets broken modifiers because iron players suck at her. No aram adjustment should go past 5% in my opinion. Yes some champs will be better than others but at least I don't have to scroll down a list every pre game to see what champs are currently neutered. I can't believe we didn't get nexus blitz so they could further ruin this abomination of a game mode. Goodbye aram I'd rather play weakside top lane then waste another minute wallowing in the filth that is ARAM.

The failure of the 2023 cinematic

The absolute bomb Riot dropped was the travesty of the newly released cinematic. Despite releasing a couple of hours prior to this post it has already gathered more dislikes and negative comments than all other cinematics combined:

I admit, after last year "The Call" my expectations were high as heck but witnessing this shit that was goo in 2012 at best probably summs up the issues the game faces and probably make community realises why the voices calling the game "maintenance mode" are louder than ever.

'Events' nowadays are just an excuse to get players to buy an event pass. We're lucky if we get a visual novel with it.

Riot's skin philosophy seems to have shifted to "quantity over quality". This is apparent when looking at the Zenith Games skins, Battle Boss Bel'Veth, and skin lines that champions have been forced into like SG and SB.

Champion teasers are something we have to ask for nowadays. I guess Riot doesn't really care about hyping up players for champion releases anymore. But why would they if everything gets leaked anyway nowadays, right?

This year's season start cinematic was terrible. No champions, no nothing, just a render of Summoner's Rift.

Is this the same company that released K/DA, the Annie: Origins cinematic and TFT as passion projects? The same company that made event gamemodes like Odyssey: Extraction and PROJECT: Hunters?

The same company that decided to focus on champion reworks for like a year because they realized that a lot of champions are outdated? Now 'midscope updates' are the new hot thing.

This is called corporate complacency and is a well known cycle in every industry. It's an issue fundamentally of profit-focused business management culture prioritizing revenue milking over the fundamentals of their original success and consumer unwillingness to punish this behavior.

I nominate the Pokemon company and game freak if you want to see the worst example. 100 man team for game dev reusing assets and can't make a triple a game on a modern console, massive profits. By comparison a game like Warframe has 500 employees.

League is basically running in a skeleton crew compared to 2015-2017.

My guess: Most of LoL Devs moved to the MMO. LoL now only exists to fund the MMO so there will be huge budget cuts while trying to make as much money as possible (thats why there are 2 season resets now, they want us to play nothing but LoL and buy lots of skins).

If you've been living under a rock, then perhaps you haven't heard about the big scandal currently rocking the AFOL (Adult Fan of Lego ) Star Wars Army Building and Minifigure Collecting community. Allow me to summarize the relevant details:

See the photo of the box art below? It's for the hotly anticipated Lego set #75345 501st Clone Troopers Battle Pack. But see the commander in the middle with the rangefinder? On the actual commander minifigure contained in the box the rangefinder is attached 3mm further up the helmet, in the same accessory hole that's used to clip on the other troopers' visors.

That's it, that's the issue. You wouldn't think 3mm would be a problem, but this hobby combines collecting, model-building, battlefield dioramas, , and children's toys, so it reaches levels of autism that theoretically shouldn't be possible (don't ask how I know about it ). And in the actual films, the rangefinder is lower down like in this computer-rendered box art, so people

Thus the Lego Group was forced to issue the following statement:

"Creating new sets involves a number of different teams working together in parallel, and unfortunately in this case the printed box art for 75345 features a computer render of a Phase 2 Clone Trooper helmet that doesn’t reflect the final finished physical element and positioning of the range finder on the figure.

As quite a hardcore Lego Star wars collector, I will say that the rangefinder placement on the helmet bothers a lot of fans, myself included. The final product looks wrong. However, I wouldn't let it detract from the set. Doesn't mean I justify it though, and a new mould for the visor along with a new visor piece to accompany it would have been ideal. After all, the rangefinder/visor attachments we have nowadays originate from about 2008 and I think it's due for an update.

Or they could get retailers to put a nice big price or advertising sticker over the offending mistake.

Or we could ignore it.

On the Brighter Side:

At least it gave the Star Wars fans something to complain about on the internet, which seems to be the preferred pastime of Star Wars fans.

There's three kinds of people who watch figure skating: catty women, catty gays, and me. Dave Lease is in the second category. He has a Youtube channel The Skating Lesson where he discusses the sport and interviews top figure skaters. The easily-butthurt redditors of /r/figureskating are not thrilled with him lately and made a seethepost about it. He's being denounced for:

• Alleged bias against certain skaters like Bradie Tennell.

• Alleged bias against the Russians.

• Making too many catty comments about womens' appearance.

• Wanting attention too much. (I'm sure none of us would do that.)

• Generally being an annoying butthole.

• Making a joke about how US Figure Skating should force ice dancer Alexa Knierim to have a surrogate deliver her baby so that she can keep skating.
