My wife is a product manager a FAANG company. Today she observed a trans-woman coworker taking milk out of the mothers' room (where working moms who are breast feeding their babies go to pump milk).

There is a fridge in this room, and my wife saw the trans woman enter the room then leave with 2 or 3 bags of milk shortly thereafter.

Should my wife report this to HR? Is this normal? My wife is an ally but this concerned her.

My wife did some digging, and spoke with another woman in the office who is breastfeeding, and this other woman did notice some of her milk missing at the end of the day. She thought it was just someone else taking it by mistake, even though the bags are labeled, but once my wife explained that she saw this trans woman leaving the mother's room with milk, it all made sense.

My wife and this woman confronted the trans woman about the milk, and the trans woman denied taking anything.

The next day, HR wants to talk to my wife and this other breastfeeding woman, they are being accused of transphobia and making the trans woman feel unsafe. My wife did explain her side of the story.

The company is now doing an investigation.

This. Like it or not, many young men want to or feel like they have to be "manly". Whatever that means. They will look for instructions on how to achieve that, and somebody will provide.

In fact, this is a general problem in "progressive" circles, contemplating how, in a better world X would not be a problem to begin with. Okay, but X is a problem and we have to address it, or somebody else will.

My issue is that I see women, by and large, still want a man. Not just a person. A man.

I think that's just widely false. Many women are actually choosing to be single because of toxic masculinity. Women widely are fawning over non-traditional looking men like Timothée Chalamet. There are certainly some women that want a man™, but I would argue those women have their own gender expectations to work through, and finding someone that doesn't expect you to uphold traditional gender roles to an extreme will result in more happiness for both people.
